How to Measure Breast Size Accurately?

Written by Rajgopal Venkataraman from ezinearticles.com

"I am a 34 B cup", "I am a 36 CC" - How often have you heard these vague numbers from friends? These are the way breast sizes are indicated and it is not rocket science to measure bra and cup sizes. All you need is a tape measure and you should be wearing your most comfortable bra and you are ready. To measure breast size accurately you need 2 important measurements: Bra size and cup size.

Step 1: Measure around your ribcage just below the breasts. Add 5 to this number. If after adding 5 you get an odd number then round it up to the next even number. Example: If your ribcage is 30 inches, 30 + 5 = 35 and round this to 36. This is your bra size.

Step 2: Measure around the fullest part of your breasts. Subtract your bra size from this number and then use the chart below to find out your cup size.

CUP SIZE:

0 - 1/2: AA
1/2 - 1: A
1 - 2: 1/2 B
2 1/2 - 3: 1/2 C
3 1/2 - 4: 1/2 D
4 1/2 - 6: DD
6 - 7: DDD

For example if your breast size is 38 and bra size is 36, you get 38 - 36 = 2. From the chart above 2 corresponds to a cup size of B! Thus you have an easy way to measure your breast size. Measuring breast size will also help you in deciding clothing sizes.

As an example if your breast size is 36. How does that equate to clothing sizes? In General, clothing manufacturers build 4 inches of "ease" into the garments. So if the chest of the garment measures 40 inches around, it will fit you just perfectly.

Measuring breast size accurately has many advantages:

1. Clothes and lingerie will fit better and look better.
2. You can keep track of the progress you are making if you are a teenager.
3. If you have started a breast enhancement program then the measurements will help you to keep track of your progress.
